The Gesualdo Six present this stunning Queen of Hearts programme, before joining the Chiltern Arts Festival Chorus in the second half of the concert to perform Fauré’s beautiful Requiem. The first half of the concert features a selection of Renaissance love songs and regret chansons from French Court musicians, focusing on the three figures of Anne of Brittany, Marguerite of Austria and Anne Boleyn. Devotional Marian settings are interwoven with texts from the Song of Songs, appropriated to venerate Mary. The programme includes new works by Owain Park and Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade, commissioned by The Gesualdo Six.
If you are singing in the Festival Chorus, your Festival Chorus entry fee includes a seat in Zone D for the first half of the concert, but you can pay an extra £10 to upgrade to Zone B — you can do this via the Festival Chorus event page.
