Stile Antico: Queen of Muses
Friday 15th February 2019, 7:30 pm–9:30 pm
Travel back in time to meet foreign spies, disgraced favourites and plotting noblemen, illuminating the life of a court which rejoiced in some of the finest music ever created in England, a country who’s royal court revelled in the skill of some of great composers such as Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, and John Dowland.
This is a time of an unparalleled flowering of the arts in England: the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Explore with Stile Antico how music was used to gain favour with the Queen by courtiers and diplomats, and even by suitors seeking to gain the royal hand in marriage.
This event is part of our “Choral Weekend” and is partnered with a Come and Sing day with Bob Chilcott at St Mary’s on Saturday 16th February. You can buy a combined ticket for these two events below, or on the Come and Sing with Bob Chilcott event page.
