Ludwig van Beethoven Septet in Eb Major, Op. 20
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Serenade in Bb Major ‘Gran Partita’
Written between 1799 and 1800, the Septet marked the end of Beethoven’s first major output of chamber music. Its style has been said to imitate the lighter side of Mozart’s writing; and here we hear it alongside Mozart’s most technically complex and ambitious wind serenade: the Gran Partita.
The City of London Sinfonia, returning to Chiltern Arts for the third year running, finish the festival with a flourish in quaint Old Amersham.
